McLennan houses to sell to owner-occupiers only

Homes in Auckland’s new McLennan housing development will only be sold to owner-occupiers.

Studio Pacific Architecture designed the masterplan and a number of housing typologies for the development, which includes a mixture of social housing and ‘affordable’ homes that will be sold for under $650,000.

Buyers are required to sign a form acknowledging their obligation to live in their home for at least a year after purchasing, preventing investors from quickly on-selling the affordable houses for profit. The aim of these covenants is to create a strong, integrated community of social housing and owner-occupier homes.

All the houses in Stage 1 of the development have already been sold, with construction due to begin on Stage 2 shortly.
