Auckland Office Fitout

This large company required a complete refurbishment and fitout of a prominent 1916 Viaduct Harbour building for its new Auckland premises. The tenancy occupies several floors of the same building.

The central concept of the fitout is that of flow, represented in a glossy red strip-like form that threads through the fitout to symbolise energy, vitality and the exchange of ideas and information. It also visually unites the different working levels within the building, creating a workplace environment that is cohesive and that promotes fluidity, connection and collaboration, as well as adding a sense of visual energy to the 1916-era space.

Formal and informal meeting spaces and staff breakout areas inhabit the heart of the building, and are linked by a glazed main circulation stair that encourages staff interaction and interconnection between floors. Open plan workspaces on the first and second floors take advantage of natural light and stunning harbour views around the perimeter of the building, with new rectangular desking and storage systems in a flexible linear configuration. A large executive suite, including a fully equipped boardroom with adjacent lounge and work areas, and associated service spaces occupy the top floor. The project also involved modifications to the base building fabric, and the integration of significant base building services, including new energy efficient mechanical ventilation and electrical infrastructure, as well as plumbing, drainage and security systems.
