Research

In 2010 Studio Pacific partnered with Victoria University of Wellington on a research project to improve the thermal and energy performance or environmental sustainability of architecturally designed houses. The project was part of the Victoria University of Wellington Architecture and Building Science Faculty’s Summer Scholars Grant.  Following the success of this first summer scholar, Studio Pacific and Victoria University have continued the partnership, jointly funding a summer scholar annually. Over the last three summers a scholar has undertaken research into various aspects of home energy performance, advancing the findings of the previous year.  The research aims to provide robust evidence to back up sustainability-related design decisions, and the lessons and findings from this research have already affected, and continue to enhance the advice we are able to give clients around the best choices to improve building performance and user comfort.

Studio Pacific views research as something that spans both theory and practice, from academic study to the development of innovative designs, methods and uses of materials on actual architectural projects. Much of our research is focused on sustainability.
