Peren Building wins NZIA Architecture Awards

The strengthening and refurbishment of the Sir Geoffrey Peren Building at Massey University in Palmerston North has won two NZIA Western Architecture Awards.

The project won a heritage award and was described by the judges as ‘beautifully restored with painstaking attention to detail’. They also praised the architectural team’s ability to both conceal and express, where appropriate, the new structural elements within the building.

The building also received a Resene Colour Award in acknowledgement of the subtle enhancement of the original colour palette and the use of coloured carpet as a wayfinding tool.
