Double win for He Tohu at the Timber Design Awards

He Tohu received two awards at the Timber Design Awards evening, announced in Auckland last night.

The Timber Design Awards celebrate projects that showcase innovation using timber. He Tohu won the Interior Innovation category and was also named the Overall Supreme Winner on the night.

He Tohu’s success at last night’s awards follows a series of acknowledgements for the project.

The judges had this to say about the exhibition: "The use of timber in this project is of remarkable importance since it shows the iconic role of wood in the past, present and future of the nation. Wood is the material on which all the cultures of Aotearoa can identify a legacy from the past and the legacy for the next generations. The use of design and construction techniques is also symbolising the tradition and innovation of New Zealand craftsmanship. This project is set to become an icon of NZ timber architecture."
