Julie Stewart Appointed as NZIA Wellington Director

We’re proud to share that Studio Pacific Principal, Julie Stewart, has been appointed as the new Wellington Director for the Te Kāhui Whaihanga New Zealand Institute of Architects (NZIA) Board.

Julie’s appointment is a significant recognition of her leadership and long-standing contribution to the architecture profession in Aotearoa. With over 25 years of experience working on civic, commercial, and cultural projects, Julie brings deep expertise and a collaborative approach to everything she does – both within our studio and across the wider industry.

As a Principal at Studio Pacific, Julie plays a key role in shaping design outcomes that are grounded in place, people, and long-term impact. Her work reflects a commitment to design excellence, cultural understanding, and the kind of leadership that strengthens communities.

The NZIA Board provides strategic governance for the Institute and represents the interests of architects across the motu. In her new role as Wellington Director, Julie will help guide the profession through ongoing challenges and opportunities – from climate responsiveness and housing to equity and industry transformation.

Julie’s thoughtful leadership and ability to connect across disciplines make her a natural fit for this role. We’re delighted to see her voice and values recognised at this level, and we know she’ll make a valuable contribution to the Board and to the profession as a whole.

Ngā mihi nui, Julie – and thank you for your continued mahi.
