We’re pleased to share that six of our projects have been shortlisted in the 2026 Te Kāhui Whaihanga New Zealand Institute of Architects Local Architecture Awards in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington and Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.
Air New Zealand Hangar 4: Commercial Architecture – Auckland
Air New Zealand’s Hangar 4 is a clear-span timber hangar with workshops that expand the airline’s engineering base. A sweeping LVL and CLT arch and translucent ETFE roof fill the space with daylight, supporting safe maintenance while showing how low-carbon materials can perform at infrastructure scale.
Aratoi Wairarapa Museum of Art and History: Enduring Architecture – Wellington
Aratoi, located in the heart of the Wairarapa, is a purpose-built museum and art gallery. Both a storehouse of cultural taonga and a cultural meeting place for the local community, the museum provides adaptable spaces that lend themselves both to the exhibition and display of its artworks and to the more fluid needs of public performance and education.
Executive Wing – Level 3 Ministerial Suites: Interior Architecture – Wellington
A former hospitality floor in Parliament’s Executive Wing (the Beehive) has been transformed into three new Ministerial suites. The fit-out works with the building’s curved plan to create calm, legible workplaces – reinstating heritage character and embedding mana whenua narratives in the arrival experience.
Kāpiti House: Housing – Wellington
Kāpiti House is a low-lying rural retreat made from two simple forms, a barn and a tower, set within a 16-acre clearing within regenerated wetlands. Built from CLT, tempered hardboard, recycled rimu and wool, it can run off-grid on solar, rainwater and on-site wastewater treatment.
Te Puna: Commercial Architecture – Wellington
Te Puna is a seismically resilient link between the National Library of New Zealand and the new Heke Rua Archives in Wellington. Co-designed with Tihei, it wraps the connection in a Taupoki cloak façade inspired by Te Ātiawa chieftainess Ruhia Pōrutu, with interior details referencing Pipitea Pā.
Waka Ama St Housing: Housing – Multi-Unit – Wellington
Set within the wider Eastern Porirua regeneration programme, Waka Ama Street Housing delivers 18 new public homes for Kāinga Ora in Cannons Creek, Porirua. The project reshapes a former superlot into a connected neighbourhood with a new street, a pocket park, and a mix of homes designed for different household sizes and ways of living.
These projects represent the collaboration of many people – clients, consultants, contractors, and communities who have helped shape each outcome. Being recognised alongside our peers across the region is always a privilege, and we’re grateful to everyone involved in bringing these projects to life.
