John is a UK Registered Architect with nine years of experience in urban design and architecture, spanning New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

John has expertise in social housing and projects located in sensitive heritage contexts, as demonstrated by his work on Parliament, where the existing buildings range from Victorian neo-gothic to Modernist/Brutalist styles. John's knowledge areas include estate renewal, community consultation, placemaking, and housing-led regeneration.

John has experience in several housing and civic projects, ranging from large-scale estate regeneration schemes to bespoke new houses. His project experience includes refurbished arts venues, social housing infill schemes, and regenerative urban design projects. He has a particular interest in the social context of architecture and the transformative effect that the built environment can have on individuals and community groups.

Currently, John is the project architect for Ballantrae Place and ERC, both of which are part of the future accommodation strategy for Parliament.
