The Terraces Hotel

The Terraces Hotel is a new 4-star hotel development in Kawarau Village. The proposed complex includes a gym, restaurant and bar.

The hotel aims to celebrate the stunning natural environment of the Queenstown Lakes District, utilising material palettes that reflect those found in the surrounding area. The concept takes its narrative from the mist and snow line found between the layers of inhabited, vegetated and mountainous terrains of the district.

The proposal acts as a calm respite in a development area full of various forms, materials and architectural languages. The building acknowledges and celebrates the extensive scale and size of the escarpment site while maintaining a rhythm and level of detail to engage at a human scale.

The restaurant, bar and lounge are located at the top of the building with extensive sun and views for visitors and guests alike. Back-of-house access and servicing connects to all levels through a series of corridors and service lifts.
