This month marks 25 years since Dorian Minty joined Studio Pacific – a significant milestone for a designer whose creative leadership has shaped some of our most distinctive interior and architectural projects.
Dorian joined Studio Pacific in 2000, bringing with him a background in fine arts, industrial design and set work for The Lord of the Rings. Since then, he has helped shape the design direction of the studio through his bold creative thinking, technical knowledge, and deep understanding of materials, light, and colour.
Over the years, Dorian has contributed to a wide range of projects, including BNZ Place, Chapman Tripp, Tākina – Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre, 20 Customhouse Quay, One Market Lane, 30 Madden, and numerous private homes. His work spans commercial interiors, civic buildings, residential design and bespoke renovations, each one shaped by his ability to create spaces that feel both rich and resolved.
Dorian is known within the studio as both a designer and a storyteller. He brings energy and excitement to every project, sharing ideas with enthusiasm and encouraging others to do the same. His specialist knowledge of materials, lighting and colour continues to be a source of inspiration and technical strength across our teams.
Appointed as a Principal in 2023, Dorian remains closely involved in design direction and project work, particularly in the interiors space. His projects are recognisable for their richness and sophistication, and his contributions continue to shape Studio Pacific’s approach to integrated, people-centred design.
Ngā mihi nui, Dorian – thank you for your commitment and the positive impact you’ve made at Studio Pacific.
