Matt is a Senior Associate and registered Landscape Architect with a passion for creating spaces that reflect their rich cultural, social and environmental contexts.

Matt has an interest in alternative design processes. Believing in a bottom-up approach, he puts strong emphasis on observing how people engage with sites at a human scale, and enjoys experimenting with various mediums and methods as tools to influence design outputs. He uses technologies such as 3D-printing and virtual reality to create stimulating material to help engage and inform people.

He has gained valuable experience on a wide range of projects, including large-scale infrastructure works, parks and reserves, ecological restoration, urban regeneration and smaller-scale church and community hub spaces.

Matt played a key role in the Peka Peka to Ōtaki Expressway project, helping to develop the landscape and urban design proposals, including planting design, public parks, bridges and cycleways. His involvement on the project has been from concept and detail design through to managing on-site observations for landscape construction. Working closely and co-ordinating with large consultant, design and construction teams was a critical part of the project, so too was iwi and community engagement in which Matt has been actively involved.
