Matt is a Senior Associate and registered Landscape Architect with a passion for creating spaces that reflect their rich cultural, social, and environmental contexts.

Matt also has a keen interest in alternative design processes, believing in a bottom-up approach that emphasises observing how people engage with sites at a human scale. He enjoys experimenting with various mediums and methods to influence design outputs, using technologies such as 3D printing and virtual reality to create stimulating materials that engage and inform people.

Matt has gained valuable experience on a wide range of projects, including large-scale infrastructure works, parks and reserves, ecological restoration, urban regeneration, and smaller-scale church and community hub spaces.

He played a key role in the Peka Peka to Ōtaki Expressway project, helping to develop the landscape and urban design proposals, including planting design, public parks, bridges, and cycleways. His involvement in the project has been from concept and detail design through to managing on-site observations for landscape construction. Working closely and coordinating with large consultant, design, and construction teams was a critical part of the project, as was iwi and community engagement, in which Matt has been actively involved.
