Stuart is the Lead of our Landscape, Urban Design & Infrastructure team. He joined the Studio Pacific team in 2012 as a specialist Landscape Architect, bringing with him a wide range of varied experience, and was appointed a Principal in 2019.

After graduating with a degree in landscape architecture from Lincoln University in 1997, Stuart spent a number of years working in Wellington on a range of residential and commercial landscape projects before travelling extensively and moving to the UK in 2004. Spending five years working in London for a large architectural and masterplanning firms, Stuart gained invaluable experience on a number of large-scale masterplanning projects across Europe and the Middle East, as well as commercial landscape schemes within the UK.

With a keen understanding of the complexities of large-scale urban planning Stuart returned to New Zealand with a desire to apply what he learnt overseas within the New Zealand context. Stuart now leads the Studio Pacific Landscape team and his cross-disciplinary approach to design has been integral to the success of a number of significant projects for the Studio.

Stuart also has a strong interest in the natural environment and exploring ways in which environmental and ecological systems can inform the design process, and provide for sustainable solutions. Inspired by simplicity of design, our natural environment and attention to detail Stuart seeks to  find creative and artistic solutions at every stage of the process.
