Stuart is the Lead of our Landscape, Urban Design & Infrastructure team. He is a Landscape Architect and Urban Designer with a wide breadth of experience, a keen understanding of the complexities of large-scale urban planning, and a focus on achieving positive outcomes for people and the environment.

Stuart has over 20 years of experience practicing as a landscape architect in New Zealand and the UK, where he spent five years working for global architectural practice Gensler in their urban design and placemaking team.

Stuart joined Studio Pacific in 2013, was appointed Principal in 2019, and has been instrumental in growing and developing a strong cross-disciplinary team of landscape architects, urban designers, and architects with a focus on achieving better-integrated outcomes for communities and the environment. His cross-disciplinary and creative approach to design has been integral to the success of a number of significant projects for the studio.

Stuart is adept at leading large-scale projects, often with multiple clients, many stakeholders, and large consultant teams. He has the ability to address complex challenges, distill the vision for a project, and effectively communicate with all parties. He is experienced in engagement and consultation. Most recently, Stuart has been involved in several significant large-scale urban regeneration projects for Kāinga Ora, where his skill set has led to strong integrated outcomes within existing communities. He has also been leading several large-scale masterplans for a range of private and public clients and the urban design and landscape work for the PP2O expressway in Kāpiti.

Stuart has a strong interest in the natural environment and exploring ways in which environmental and ecological systems can inform the design process and provide sustainable solutions.
