Senior Principal

Michael is a registered architect with over 35 years’ work experience and he contributes to the studio in many ways from the preparation of bids through to solving challenging construction problems.

Appointed to the position of Senior Principal in 2014, Michael has been with Studio Pacific Architecture since 1996.

He has a deep knowledge of the design of office buildings and their associated workplace interiors. His experience includes project work, either leading the base-build or the fitout team, and has grown into consultancy work in the evaluation and selection of premises. His other area of particular interest is education facilities and the new pedagogy that informs the design of these.

Michael has led some of the Studio’s major projects and his skills include space-planning, technical detailing, project management, contractual issues, and general quality management.

He has a particular interest in environmentally responsible design and aims to inform all of his projects with this as a foundation. 

His current project work is leading the architectural and landscape design teams for three new buildings at Parliament.

Michael is also a director of the New Zealand Architects Cooperative Society which is involved in the provision of professional indemnity insurance for architects.
